Blue Jean Baby

The denim trend is everywhere from denim leggings, denim shirts, and denim jackets. And now, denim swimsuits! The blonde model on the runway is wearing a chanel denim suit from last year and the ruffled suit is from revolveclothing.com. I don't remember what show the bottom picture is from but I love the bustier, pink piping, and gathering on the hips.

My First Two Creations

[Dayna with her daughter, my niece, Jayne Middie]

My sister Dayna went to the Bahamas with her in-laws over Christmas break (jealous.) and brought two swimsuits that I made! I was excited to see them get some good use over winter break. The first one I ever made was a simple tank in a fun green print. I added a ruffle down the center with some bold gold buttons. The second suit I ever made is the red, white, navy, and turquoise tube suit with a turquoise anchor print "flounce" as I like to call it.

Here she is again in my creation pictured with her mother-in-law Monette. I am loving the stripes! (who said horizontal stripes weren't flattering? so wrong!)

Inspired by Baby

I am very inspired by my little niece, Jayne, pictured above. She has got impeccable style and she is only 6 months old! (Picture taken from my sister's blog here). I really like the idea of matching swim apparel and hats.

Here is the look, just  a little more grown up. This encompasses everything I love in a suit: girly, interesting details, and fun print. The hat is what makes this look special. (Suit is from Orla Kiely Swimwear)

C'mon, is this for real? How chic is this baby! I want this outfit in my size, NOW!

I found this amazing 70's pattern and am dying over the back of this suit. She looks like she is going on a picnic or maybe it is just the picnic table fabric, but I LOVE IT!
I also love how my vintage pattern collection is growing!!

Sailor chic

I found this fun vintage picture and i love it! The sailor hat is so cute and I love how her garters are showing. I have always loved sailor inspired pieces whether it be the red white and blue color pallet or the anchor print buttons.

I really like how this suit (from modcloth) almost looks like a costume. I also like how the back is really exposed. Allows for more tan back sides. The buttons are also to die for.

I like the simplicity in this suit (Lux from Urban outfitters). It is long and has thick straps which is great for running around and being active in the water. The red "sailor" bow is a great touch

Make it Girly: Velvet, Lace, and Feminine Prints

The ultimate key to a girly swimsuit is that it is skirted. The following skirted suits show "girly" done in beautiful yet unexpected ways. Very inspired.

This swimsuit above really catches my eye. Not only does black make you look skinnier but I love the texture of this suit (more interesting than a plain black suit, although I have nothing against it). The classic heart-shaped tank, the damask print, the velvet, and the lace trim is so beautiful.

Love the black and white Gingham! I like how this suit has three different panels with the pattern placed on different grains. It really makes the body look great. The lace trim is also a nice touch.

These two swimsuits are both from Betsey Johnson. I love how long the tankini top is and how it flares out like a dress. The lace, the floral, and the bows just amp up the girlyness.
